What is i am legend fred?

I Am Legend is a 2007 post-apocalyptic science fiction film, directed by Francis Lawrence, featuring Will Smith as the protagonist Robert Neville. Fred is a dog that Neville adopts when everyone else in New York City is dead. Fred is a German Shepherd and is Neville's only companion for the majority of the movie. They become quite close, and Neville does everything he can to protect Fred, even risking his own safety. Near the end of the movie, Fred is bitten by an infected mutant and Neville has to kill him as he becomes infected and turns into a zombie. The death of Fred marks a significant turning point in the story as it shows Neville's increasing desperation and loneliness.
